Переглядів 3,5 тис.2 місяці тому
In The Lake District there is a popular hiking trail up to Raven Crag which has been notorious for unkept fires spreading to the tress around it in the dry summers. To counter this problem the trees have been felled around the perimeter of this popular Instagram location to try help the situation.
Straight Line Mission to Centre of GB to FIX Googles PROBLEM

Great Britain is misrepresented on Google Maps with a single picture of a rock in a field. We need to change that with a good old cup of tea. Although i tried my best to take every safety precaution i still managed to find a way to bugger something up! Crib Goch is of course very dangerous so please only attempt it if you feel capable. 4x US F35 Fighter Jets Catch me off guard whilst vlogging - LOUD

These 4 american fighter jets caught me off guard whilst in the UK Lake District doing a video. This is a clip from a full video i made last year for Scafell Pike but i thought this clip was awesome so wanted to share it individually. There is possibly an F22 in there as well! The last one of the 4 had a really heavy bank and it went right through my body. It literally took my breath away as it...

I’ve done Snowden 5 times and on the last climb I was adamant I would be doing Crib! Visibility less than 10ft wind was brutal and it was slippery due to the rain! We managed it but wouldn’t do it again in that sort of weather!

Used to walk my sheepdog along that ridge. If you can ignore the exposure, the very top edge is a broad, gently sloped path with the odd bit of scrambling. Met many terrified people who shouldn’t have been there, pity as all they’d just set out to do was have an adventure.

To answer the title: Crib Goch isn't a problem, uneducated / ignorant idiots are the problem, as with all our ranges and summits. Sure the video is a great piece of education. Anyone in the hills, anywhere, stay informed, stay safe. The goal is to be able to go exploring again and again.

IDIOTS never stray off the beaten track in weather like that unless you know the route to take . no matter how much easier you think you can make it for yourselves . Steep grassy slopes are lethal on cliffs and mountains and many people die assuming they are safe because they are on grass .

Good to share. I used to live in the area and the ability of Crib Goch to turn super grim has to be seen to be believed. So a helpful video! To say, before a descent for bad weather, reminding each other that descents are pretty dangerous is always a good idea: snacks and a brew always good pre decent prep ;)

On the other hand, I’ve seen plenty of videos of crib Gogh etc, where the UA-camr urges caution, and some so-called experienced climber in the comments will mock them as ‘it’s just a grade 1 scramble’. They are the problem more than you are.

As someone who loves the outdoors and has led a few groups up a mountain, I have never thought of UA-camrs such as yourself and Danger Dave as being the problem. You discuss these topics and when things go wrong, you share it. I have seen absolutely horrendous videos of idiots poorly-dressed, marching up Ben Nevis in the snow with absolutely no research done and “they have to do it” “they can’t turn back now”. For the sake of completing a video. The worst part was that they actually succeeded. Honestly, it would be better if idiots like that did end up needing Mountain Rescue, as god knows what they think they can attempt next.

There is no trrail around the rim. A few trekker have done it as a 35 mile, 2 day hike with scrambling and bouldering, crossing scree slopes all that. The road goes all the way around at about 55 miles in length - some skiers and snowshoers have taken that path in winter when the road is under feet of snow.

Your videos will be seen by many people. A minority of your viewers will be adrenaline junkies who over estimate their abilities and / or dismiss the perils that you highlight. Most people who watch your videos will be sensible enough to see that you are a very capable mountain person knowing what you are doing. Most of us wouldn't want to do what you do in these videos.

When I was on Scout camp at 14, one of the leaders took a group of us up Crib Goch and along the ridge to the summit of Snowdon. None of us, including the leader, had any climbing experience. We loved the experience. The leader was an idiot.

That episode on the mountain was a disaster from start to finish. The problem of crib goch is some of the idiots that go on it, including so called mountaineers? And I don't think we really need the TRIGGER warning?

  • @me5969

My advice would be to just stay away from Snowdon all together. It's the London of hikes. Incredibly overrated, overpopulated and offers nothing that others don't but is the only one place people have heard of so they flock to it. I did Crib Goch literally only because I was being hounded to do Snowdon but I said I'd only do it either at night or via Crib Goch... Should have gone at night. Absolutely full of people scuttling all over it. I honestly fail to see the appeal of both Crib and Snowdon as a whole
